It would be wrong not to spend time with a GT this weekend, wouldn’t it?
Long day. Up bright and early to head to Mosport for the VARAC Historic Grand Prix, unfortunately because of time I only did mostly paddock photos and some infield spotting - so not much track action. Was planning on shooting more track stuff tomorrow but something came up and I wont be able to head back to CTMP.
That being said, some neat stuff showed up today - a lot of vintage racecars (1970s to 1990s) plus a few notable entrants, including a 2009 997 GT2, a Benneton-themed Lola and a McLaren M8E (the same one from Concours last year). Oh, and a million Minis.
Five hours at the track later plus an hour transit, and I found myself at the Regent Theatre for the Mini Grid x Pfaff Motorsports x Multimatic Le Mans viewing event. Unfortunately I was too exhausted to carry my camera inside, but they had two body panels from the new GT - raw carbon elements with just the primer coat, but the rear was completely exposed. The entire rear left buttress was one piece as was the rear bumper. Such works of art.
As a promo, Pfaff motorsports also brought out their two 991 GT3 Cup cars, of which the Castol themed one driven by Chris Green does double duty in GT3 Cup Canada as well as Pirelli World challenge. Alongside those was one Multimatic Motorsports Shelby Mustang GT350R-C, campaigned in the Continental Tire SportsCar Championship last year.
Obviously since the Multimatic crew are in Europe running those two GTs, these Mustangs have sat in their Ontario warehouse unattended (but hopefully still loved). Missing the sound of that flat-plane V8 though, and hopefully they get these back out on track soon.
Pfaff McLaren also decided to crash the party right after I arrived, bringing their demo 570S - the first example to have landed in Canada last year and the same one I spotted in Montreal for the 2015 Canadian GP.
If you’re in Toronto, and have some time to kill I recommend the trip to the Regent Theatre for the Le Mans streaming (official WEC global feed). The staff are all super friendly, and the baked goods are delicious. Oh, and some Multimatic / Ford freebies. Doors open at 6AM and the event closes at 10AM Sunday (race-fin at 9AM + post-race activities).
Did I mention you’d be watching Le Mans on the big screen?

I spent some time with a Gt40 this morning at Katie’s cars and coffee. It made me feel all kinds of funny...... Like climbing the rope in gym class.

What a gorgeous Ford GT, and it’s my favorite color, 2006 Tungsten Grey! A lovely way to start my Sunday morning! Thank you!
